Saw you recently in South and West area.
What I thought would really help, ...as it is all about the amps when you demonstrate for Marshall...is a leaflet to take away saying exactly what amps you use and what their features are. You did (sometimes) give the names of the amps during your great set, but you said it all a bit fast for me. So if we do not come to the gig with pen and paper, then the names fly in one ear and out the other. Also a bit of more in depth talking about the amps, and saying what effects you had on at the time would help, imo. :-)
You used an 18 watt amp at one point, but you chose a quieter song for it...so it was not clear how it compared to the other amps there. I know it would be boring for some, but I would find it interesting, if you played the same number, or just a short part of a same song, in all the amps one after another, with identical setttings and effects.
Well all this could perhaps be put on a free CD with a demo of each amp, to save snagging up the live presentation. All amps demonstrating the same song, or just you and no bass and drums, to take away afterwards?
Love the look of your guitar.

Hi Chris,
I have seen many of your Marshall demos, and your jams with Bonamassa, Doug Aldrich, Paul Gilbert, which demonstrate what great tone you have. It is the quintessence of the Marshall sound. I also really enjoy your tone on your album, especially C.G.B. When is your next album coming out?
Your video on the Vintage Modern with the LAG spalted maple guitar (lovely) caught my interest as I recently bought a VM2266. However, using your settings on that video (or any other settings for that matter), my LP Custom with BK Mule bridge, through an Orange 2x12 with Vintage 30s, completely fails to crunch on the lo mode and is so stiff and trebly it slices your head off; whereas on your video, there is warmth and crunch aplenty. Things are slightly better on the hi mode but still very harsh and toppy and completely devoid of that sweetness and fatness on your video.
I am an experienced player and a purist for the Marshall tone you refer to. Sorry to bother you with my tone woes, but I particularly like the tone you get, just about the best I've heard, and am at a loss to know how to improve things. I have read comments by other people referring to the same problems, see http://www.harmonycentral.com/reviews/346979, which is an accurate reflection of my own experience.
I'd be grateful for a reply if you have time, but appreciate you can't answer all these types of question.
All the best. Mark
Hi Chris,
first of all I must apologize for my English, I am from Czech Republic. I would like to ask you for your help/advice. I very like your review of Marshall AFD 100 in YouTube. I am a fan of Slash and his sound, so I bought AFD. Unfortunately I´m not able to get the great sound from it as you had in your video review. The sound is great but still not the same, not so crunchy. I have Marshall 1960B box, AFD 100 amp and Epiphone LesPaul Tribute 60s Outfit with SEYMOUR-DUNCAN APH-2 Slash signature pickups (Ernie Ball strings). Where is the mistake? I know that the technique and hands play the important role but when I pick the string I feel the differance. Can you tell me what was your equipment and settings in the review or can you give some other advice?
Thank you.
Best Regards
Jirka
